What you need to know about Playa de las Americas
Playa de las Americas is a small town on the island of Tenerife. There is not much to do but it is a good place to start excursions. Here I give you a few tips to do during your vacation in Playa de las Americas.
What to do in Playa de las Americas
The first excursion is a trip on a camel in the town of Los Cristianos, not far from Playa de las Américas. In this park you can make a trip around the so-called ship of the desert in the Camel Park, where you can also visit a petting zoo and have a bite to eat in the garden restaurant serving Mediterranean and Canarian dishes, giving you a glimpse into the kitchen from this island and the other around it. This is a fun outing for people with children and it is easy to reach with free transportation from the south of Tenerife.
The second excursion to do from Playa de las Américas is a boat trip. You can choose from different tours throughout the year, departing from the ports of Playa de las Americas, Los Cristianos, Los Gigantes and Playa de San Juan. There are several boat trips that you can book but the best ones are still those that sail around the island or go to one of the other islands in the area. From the port of San Miguel also a nice excursion with a submarine leaves with which you float for an hour in the Atlantic Ocean while you can discover the underwater world around the island of Tenerife and thus also admire the different fishes that are fed by the boat and that are clearly visible through the clear water of this ocean.
You don’t have to leave Playa de las Américas for the third excursion. It is a quad park with different routes and routes that are so nice for beginners and experts. If you are not yet able to do so well or would rather receive help, the instructors are ready to help you. The drivers of the quads must be at least 14 years old and if you want to take a passenger with them he must be at least six years old. It is not necessary to have a driver’s license and if you need glasses you can rent them there just like the helmets that are mandatory. The park has a free bus that picks you up and brings you back and you can find it between Playa de las Américas and Los Cristianos.
